Navigating the Grabyo Live Control Room

Written by Yoanna Hristova

The Grabyo Live control room combines sophisticated production features in a simple, user-friendly package. Understanding its layout and general navigation is the fastest way to get the most out of it during a live production.

This guide walks through the interface from top to bottom: monitoring windows and audio monitoring, the take-live commands, production layers, the right-rail menus, and the navigation and action controls along the top of the screen.

Monitoring windows and audio controls

The monitoring windows sit at the very top of the interface. By default two windows are shown, so you can look at your preview and clean output at the same time.

The windows are highly configurable. You can show or hide them to focus on a single source, or use them to monitor any of your video mixes alongside the preview.

An audio monitoring tool is integrated into the same space, opened from the headphones icon. Use it to adjust your monitoring level or mute monitoring completely.

✅ Tip: Audio monitoring affects only what you hear locally. Muting it does not change the audio your production is actually outputting.

Take live commands

Directly beneath the monitoring windows are the take live commands. From here you can:

  • Select a transition type

  • Enter an editable duration for that transition

  • Activate the transition to take your preview live

Managing layers and layouts

Below the monitoring windows sit the production layers. Layers can be resized, and both their colours and their layout can be fully customised to suit the way your team works.

Layers function as overlays with a vertical priority system, in the same way layers work in Photoshop or most non-linear editors. A layer positioned at the top of the list always appears over the layers underneath it.

Situation

What you see on output

Active sources in both a camera layer and a guest layer

Only the top layer is visible

The top source is cleared

The source beneath it is revealed immediately

Sources resized across multiple layers

Both remain visible — the basis of a picture-in-picture effect

✅ Tip: Resizing sources across layers is the quickest way to build picture-in-picture without a separate composition step.

Menus and the right rail

Specific configurations are opened from the menus on the right rail.

  • A dedicated pop-out button expands the rail to show a clear text description for each menu

  • Clicking a menu opens it; clicking it a second time closes it again

  • To maximise the production workspace, a button in the top right corner clears away the left-hand rail icons

Notifications, session time and action buttons

The top right of the control room holds a notification space showing which users are currently accessing the platform. It also includes a countdown indicator for the remaining time on the current control room session, which alerts you when time is running low.

Next to the notifications are action buttons that let you:

  • Open multi-viewer configurations

  • Select a key bindings profile, or jump directly to the key bindings page

  • Access general settings

Switching between areas of the platform

The top left section of the interface is your primary navigation hub. The interface defaults to the vision mixing page within the control room home, and from here you can jump quickly to other production areas.
