Understanding Shows in Grabyo Live

Written by Yoanna Hristova

In Grabyo Live, a Show is effectively the recording record of live content produced, or currently being produced, in a control room. The control room is where operators run the live production. The Show is the tracked production instance that appears in the Shows area, with status, timing, control room information, and access to the associated recording and playback view.

What a Show is

A Show is the production record created around a live session in a control room. It allows teams to see whether a production is still running or has finished, identify when it started and ended, view the duration, and open the recording for review or download.

The key distinction is:

  • Control rooms are where live production is operated.

  • Shows are the tracked live production records and recordings that result from that activity.

How Shows fit into Grabyo Live

Grabyo Live uses a unified interface with navigation for areas such as Home, Shows, Asset Library, and Account Management. The Shows section gives operators and admins visibility of active and completed production usage across control rooms.

Shows support operational workflows by helping teams answer questions such as:

  • Which productions are currently running?

  • How long has a running production been active?

  • Which control room produced a specific show?

  • When did a finished show start and end?

  • How long was the completed production?

  • Where can the recording be reviewed, marked, and downloaded?

The Shows section

The Shows page is used to track both active and completed production records. There are two main tabs: Running and Finished.

Running Shows

The Running tab lists productions that are currently active. Each running Show includes useful metadata so teams can monitor active usage.

  • Name — the Show name, often generated from the control room name and start time.

  • Started — the date and time the production record began.

  • Duration — how long the production has been running.

  • Control Room — the control room associated with the production.

This view is useful for operational monitoring, usage visibility, and confirming that live production activity is being tracked correctly.

Finished Shows

The Finished tab lists production records that have ended. Finished Shows include additional timing information because the production has completed.

  • Name — the completed Show name.

  • Started — when the production started.

  • Finished — when the production ended.

  • Duration — the total length of the production.

  • Control Room — the control room that produced the content.

Finished Shows can be selected for follow-up actions such as opening the recording view, reviewing the output, or deleting records where appropriate and permitted.

Shows and recordings

A Show is closely tied to Grabyo Live's recording model. The recording view provides playback controls and access to recorded video and audio layers. This supports review, download, post-production, and future replay workflows.

The recording interface includes:

  • A video playback area for reviewing the selected recording layer.

  • Playback controls for moving through the recording.

  • A Video recordings selector, such as Program or other available video layers.

  • An Audio recordings selector, such as Track 1 or other available audio tracks.

  • A Quality selector, with proxy options such as 180p and potentially other available resolutions depending on the workflow.

  • A timeline with waveform display to support faster review and navigation.

  • Mark in and Mark out controls for selecting a time range.

  • A download action for exporting the selected range when available.

Multi-layer recording

Grabyo Live supports a multi-layer recording approach. Depending on the control room and production configuration, recordings may include clean outputs, language-specific outputs, individual camera feeds, selectable audio tracks, and different camera angles.

This replaces a simpler single-output view with a model that is better suited to live sports, events, remote commentary, localised feeds, and post-production workflows.
