Layer Settings

Written by Yoanna Hristova

Configuring layers in the Grabyo Live vision mixer window is a straightforward way to optimise your production workflow. From the layer settings you can organise your sources, adjust visual layouts, and apply settings in bulk.

Managing and accessing your layers

Click the three dots next to any layer to manage it. From that menu you can:

  • Add a new layer directly above the current one

  • Add a new layer directly below the current one

  • Remove the layer entirely

To modify a layer's properties, there are two routes:

  • Select Layer Settings from the three-dots menu

  • Click the layer icon on the right rail and select the layer you want to view or edit

Customisation options

Inside the layer settings menu you have several ways to shape your workspace.

Option

What it does

Identification

Change the layer name and add applicable tags

Colour coding

Amend the layer colour from a selection of presets, or add a custom colour

✅ Tip: Layer tags are useful when working with key bindings, so name and tag layers consistently before a show.

Choosing the right layout

Two layout modes control how sources are displayed within a layer window.

Mode

How sources are arranged

Best for

Horizontal

Side by side. If you increase source resolution and the sources extend past the edge of the screen, a slider appears so you can scroll horizontally through them

Working through a row of sources at a larger size

Grid

Organised vertically within the layer window

Creating a multi-viewer style layout

Overriding display presets

Layer settings can also override display preset settings for the sources inside the layer. When you make a change here, the new display preset is applied to all sources in that layer simultaneously.

The function works the same way as individual source settings, but provides a much faster method for updating multiple sources at once.

📕 Note: The override applies to every source in the layer, so check the layer's contents before applying a preset mid-production.
