Adding an intercom user
Click the PLUS (+) icon
Choose REMOTE CONTRIBUTION
Select INTERCOM
Provide a name for the intercom user and choose their talkback layout
Configuring intercom settings
Configuring an intercom user is very similar to setting up a guest. The primary difference is that intercom is an audio-only system — there is no option to add video.
Once the user is named and any unnecessary additional sources are removed, copy the generated invite link and send it directly to the intercom user.
The intercom user experience
When the intercom user opens the link, their setup is straightforward:
They click CONTINUE
They select their preferred audio device to get started
Creating a talkback room
To establish a mutual communication channel, the guest and intercom sources must be shared with one another:
Go to the intercom user settings and select the guest source for sharing
Go to the guest settings and add the intercom user to the guest
Once both sources are shared with each other, a talkback room is created.
Communication options and features
Feature | Behaviour |
Lazy talkback | Adds an icon to the intercom user's taskbar. Clicking it lets them speak simultaneously to all intercom and guest users shared within that room |
Targeted audio | Intercom users can talk directly to the guest, or restrict their audio to the crew only |
Chat function | Text chat follows the same sharing logic as the audio intercom system, allowing quick messaging between guests and crew |
✅ Tip: intercom is a guest without video. Communication only flows where sources are shared, so sharing must be set on both sides to create a working talkback room.
